An article presenting the UTILE Project was published in 2024 in issue no. 77 of AITEX Magazine. The article introduces the objectives and activities of the project, which aims to develop innovative technologies to support circular economy strategies for the reuse and recycling of military personal protective equipment, such as ballistic helmets and flexible ballistic panels.
Funded by the European Defence Fund, the project brings together eight partners from across Europe and focuses on eco-design solutions, advanced recycling processes for high-performance fibres, and the development of a digital platform supported by AI and blockchain to trace materials and facilitate circular ecosystems in the defence sector.
